Earthquake measuring 5.2 strikes area close to Pelabuhanratu, Indonesia on Sept. 18

SUKABUMI REGENCY, West Java — A 5.2 magnitude quake occurred near Pelabuhanratu on Friday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 14:36 UTC (21:36 local time), a tremor shook the region at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter approximately 189 km south-southwest of Pelabuhanratu.

Two quakes closeby past week

In the past week, there have been two earthquakes above magnitude 2.5 centered in the same area. The largest, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake, hit on Sep. 14, while the other, measuring 4.4, rattled on Sep. 15.
