Earthquake measuring 5.1 shakes area close to Buala, Solomon Islands on Aug. 6

A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Buala around midnight Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

At 13:42 UTC (00:42 local time), a tremor struck the region at a depth of 54 km, with its epicenter about 110 km west of Buala.
