ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK — A 5.4 magnitude quake hit near False Pass on Tuesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
At 6:51 p.m. (10:51 a.m. local time), a tremor jolted the region at a depth of 29 miles, with its epicenter about 56 miles south-southeast of False Pass. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later upgraded it to 5.4.
