CHURCHILL COUNTY, NV — A 5.7 magnitude quake occurred near Silver Springs on Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 1:29 a.m. (6:29 p.m. local time), a tremor jolted the region at a depth of 3 miles, with its epicenter approximately 12 miles east-southeast of Silver Springs. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.5 but later upgraded to 5.7.
