Update: March 31 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake recorded near Sola, Vanuatu

VANUA LAVA, Torba Province — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Sola on Tuesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which struck the area at 21:56 UTC (08:56 local time), was centered roughly 217 km northeast of Sola. It occurred at a depth of 650 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.
