A 5.0 magnitude quake shook near Barishal on Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 04:40 UTC (09:40 local time). The epicenter was approximately 48 km north-northwest of Barishal, at a depth of 10 km.

Two tremors nearby last week
In the past week, there have been two tremors greater than magnitude 2.5 centered in the area. Both were detected in the same area where the larger one was a 5.3 earthquake that struck on Mar. 27. The other, of magnitude 4.2, jolted on Mar. 27.
