A 5.8 magnitude quake was detected close to Kuril Islands Sunday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 07:25 UTC (17:25 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located of Kuril Islands and occurred at a depth of 12 km.
