The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake jolted near ‘Ohonua Monday morning.

The tremor shook at 13:02 UTC (01:02 local time), with its epicenter situated roughly 50 km southeast of ‘Ohonua and a depth of 10 km.

Closeby area rattled by two quakes over the week

Last week, there were two tremors, greater than magnitude 2.5, centered in the region. Both were registered in the same area where the larger one was a 5.4 earthquake that struck prior to this quake. The other, of magnitude 5.2, hit on January 25.
