Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 jolts area near False Pass, AK on Sept. 20

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK — A 5.0 magnitude quake shook close to False Pass on Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 9:06 p.m. (10:06 a.m. local time), a tremor hit the region at a depth of 6 miles, with its epicenter about 154 miles south-southeast of False Pass. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.7 but later upgraded to 5.0.
