Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 strikes area close to Norwegian Sea on Dec. 24

A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Norwegian Sea Wednesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit at 22:37 UTC (22:37 local time), with its epicenter situated of Norwegian Sea and a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.

Last week, there was another tremor of magnitude 2.5 centered in the region, which was also registered close to Norwegian Sea, prior to this quake.
