ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.5 magnitude quake occurred near Adak Friday night.
At 9:14 a.m. (9:14 p.m. local time), the region was shaken by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 48 miles, with its epicenter roughly 163 miles west of Adak.
A Tsunami statement regarding the quake has been issued by the National Tsunami Center. For the latest information, visit tsunami.gov.
