5.2 magnitude earthquake strikes near Ruteng, Indonesia on Aug. 22

A 5.2 magnitude quake occurred close to Ruteng on Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 01:30 UTC (09:30 local time), was centered about 38 km north-northeast of Ruteng. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors past week

Five quakes of magnitude 5.5 or higher have been recorded in the region last week. The strongest, a 5.8 magnitude quake, shook the same region on Aug. 20.
