Update: Earthquake of 5.2 magnitude registered near Nikolski, AK on Aug. 14

ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — A 5.2 magnitude quake was detected near Nikolski Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor jolted the area at 6 p.m. (7 a.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 88 miles south-southwest of Nikolski and occurred at a depth of 22 miles.
