Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude recorded close to Kimbe, Papua New Guinea on Aug. 17

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Kimbe Sunday morning.

The tremor struck the area at 18:35 UTC (04:35 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter situated roughly 170 km east-southeast of Kimbe.
