According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Vilyuchinsk Thursday afternoon.

The tremor, which hit the area at 03:35 UTC (14:35 local time), was centered approximately 177 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk. It occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later downgraded to 5.1.
