Update: Earthquake measuring 5.3 strikes area close to Vilyuchinsk, Russia on Sept. 11

A 5.3 magnitude quake was recorded close to Vilyuchinsk Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the region at 04:54 UTC (15:54 local time), was centered approximately 181 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
