ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — A 5.0 magnitude quake rattled near Attu Station on Friday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the area at 8:22 a.m. (8:22 p.m. local time), was centered approximately 137 miles east-southeast of Attu Station. It occurred at a depth of 6 miles. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
