A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Ternate on Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit at 06:21 UTC (15:21 local time), with its epicenter approximately 104 km west-northwest of Ternate and a depth of 43 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.0 but later upgraded to 5.1.
