MBARALI, Mbeya Region — A 5.7 magnitude quake struck near Africa on Tuesday around midday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 10:13 UTC (12:13 local time). The epicenter was south of Africa, at a depth of 10 km.
