A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Monday at 8:51 a.m. for strong winds until 11 a.m. for Rabun and Habersham counties.

“Strong wind gusts are occurring this morning on the downwind side of the Blue Ridge, from near Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina, southwest along the Escarpment to near Bearwallow Mountain in North Carolina, and even into far northeast Georgia, including Clayton. Gusts of 35 to 50 mph may briefly occur downwind of ridges through late morning. The winds have brought down a few downed trees and power lines in some cases. Take extra caution if out and about this morning, especially if driving under tall trees or if you are in a high-profile vehicle like a truck,” says the NWS.
