The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 9:24 a.m. on Monday for gusty winds until 4 p.m. The alert is for Union, Towns, Lumpkin and White counties.

“Wind gusts up to 35 mph are possible across the higher elevations and downwind of ridges in Northeast Georgia through this afternoon. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Take extra caution if out and about this morning, especially if driving under tall trees or if you are in high-profile vehicles,” describes the NWS.
