Update: Seismic activity on Oct. 3 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake near Vilyuchinsk, Russia recorded

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Vilyuchinsk Friday morning.

A tremor rattled the area at 16:09 UTC (03:09 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located roughly 157 km southeast of Vilyuchinsk and occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.9 but later upgraded to 5.0.
