CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A 2.5 magnitude quake was registered near Walnut Creek at midday on Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor rattled the region at 11:16 a.m. The epicenter was located roughly 1 mile northwest of Walnut Creek, at a depth of 5 miles.

Light to moderate shaking has been recorded and residents reported experiencing the tremor in a couple of cities, including Martinez and Concord according to the USGS DYFI report.

During the past week, there was one quake of magnitude 2.5 centered in the region, which was detected close to Fairview three days ago.
