SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 3.7 magnitude quake rattled close to Borrego Springs Thursday afternoon.

It was reported that a tremor jolted the region at 5:16 p.m. The epicenter was situated about 3 miles west of Borrego Springs, at a depth of just 3 miles.

According to the USGS DYFI report, people in multiple cities, including San Diego, Julian, Warner Springs and Borrego Springs, reported experiencing light shaking from the tremor.

Quakes past week

Over the last week, two earthquakes, greater than magnitude 2.5, have been centered nearby. The stronger, a magnitude 2.6 quake, was reported near Palomar Observatory two days ago. The other, measuring 2.5, struck close to Julian on July 7.
