Update: March 14 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake recorded near Kuril Islands

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Kuril Islands Saturday morning.

The tremor struck at 18:32 UTC (04:32 local time), with its epicenter situated of Kuril Islands and a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 2.4 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.
