The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Tatsugō Wednesday afternoon.
The tremor, which hit the area at 06:07 UTC (15:07 local time), was centered about 76 km north of Tatsugō. It occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.

Tremors last week
During the past week, 22 quakes with a magnitude 2.5 or greater have been registered in the region. The strongest, a 5.4 magnitude quake, was recorded in the same region three days earlier.
