Update: July 13 – 4.0 magnitude earthquake detected near Olancha, CA

INYO COUNTY, CA — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 4.0 magnitude quake hit close to Olancha Sunday morning.

At 5:27 a.m., the region was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of just 0.27 miles, with its epicenter roughly 8 miles south-southwest of Olancha.

The USGS DYFI report indicates that residents in Lone Pine experienced weak to light shaking during the earthquake.
