Update: Earthquake strikes region near San José, Spain on July 14 – 5.2 magnitude detected

ALMERÍA, AN — A 5.2 magnitude quake was recorded close to San José Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 05:13 UTC (07:13 local time), the area was hit by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 21 km southeast of San José.

According to the USGS DYFI report, moderate shaking was registered and residents in cities including San Miguel de Salinas, El Ejido, Vera, Cuevas del Almanzora and Mojácar reported experiencing the earthquake.
