OSA, Puntarenas Province — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake hit near Puerto Cortés around midday Saturday.

The tremor shook the area at 18:41 UTC (12:41 local time). It occurred at a depth of 11 km with the epicenter situated approximately 63 km west-southwest of Puerto Cortés.
