Update: Earthquake shakes region near Shingletown, CA on July 12 – 2.4 magnitude recorded

SHASTA COUNTY, CA — A preliminary 2.4 magnitude quake was detected close to Shingletown Saturday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 9:09 p.m., the area was struck by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 8 miles, with its epicenter approximately 7 miles west of Shingletown.
