Update: Earthquake of 2.4 magnitude recorded near Shingletown, CA on July 12

SHASTA COUNTY, CA — A preliminary 2.4 magnitude quake was detected close to Shingletown Saturday night, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

At 9:09 p.m., the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of 8 miles, with its epicenter about 7 miles west of Shingletown.
