Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude registered near Ruteng, Indonesia on Aug. 17

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Ruteng on Monday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 12:51 UTC (20:51 local time), was centered roughly 45 km north of Ruteng. It occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.9 but later upgraded to 5.0.
