ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 7.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Sand Point Wednesday morning.

A tremor slammed the region at 8:37 p.m. (9:37 a.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 54 miles south of Sand Point and occurred at a depth of 12 miles.
