Update: Earthquake strikes region close to Sand Point, AK on July 16 – 7.3 magnitude reported

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 7.3 magnitude quake occurred near Sand Point Wednesday morning.

It was reported that a tremor devastated the area at 8:37 p.m. (9:37 a.m. local time). The epicenter was situated about 54 miles south of Sand Point, at a depth of 12 miles.
