ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—on Wednesday around midday, a 5.2 magnitude quake was recorded near Sand Point, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The tremor, which shook the area at 10:10 p.m. (11:10 a.m. local time), was centered about 60 miles south-southeast of Sand Point. It occurred at a depth of 19 miles.

Tremors last week
14 quakes with a magnitude 2.5 or greater have been reported in the region in the past week, three of them larger than magnitude 7. The most significant was a 7.3 magnitude earthquake detected in the same region prior to this quake.
