Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 shakes area near West Chile Rise on Feb. 14

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near West Chile Rise at midday on Saturday.

A tremor struck the region at 18:25 UTC (12:25 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located of West Chile Rise and occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.7 but later upgraded to 5.0.
