SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 3.7 magnitude quake jolted close to Borrego Springs Thursday afternoon.

At 5:16 p.m., the region was shaken by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of just 3 miles, with its epicenter approximately 3 miles west of Borrego Springs.

If you exparienced the quake, you can report it via the USGS Felt Report form. The agency has so far received 50 reports via its online form from people who report they experienced the tremor. According to the USGS DYFI report, residents in a number of cities, including San Diego, Julian, Warner Springs and Borrego Springs, reported experiencing light shaking from the earthquake.

Quakes last week

In the past week, two quakes, greater than magnitude 2.5, have been centered in the area. The stronger, a magnitude 2.6 quake, was registered near Palomar Observatory two days earlier. The other, measuring 2.5, occurred near Julian on July 7.
