Update: 5.7 magnitude earthquake reported near Sand Point, AK on July 17

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—A 5.7 magnitude quake was detected close to Sand Point Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 4:30 a.m. (5:30 p.m. local time), was centered roughly 58 miles south-southeast of Sand Point. It occurred at a depth of 22 miles.
