Update: 5.5 magnitude earthquake hits close to Kirakira, Solomon Islands on June 24

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.5 magnitude quake occurred near Kirakira around midday Tuesday.

The tremor jolted the area at 01:58 UTC (12:58 local time). It occurred at a depth of 40 km with the epicenter situated approximately 95 km southeast of Kirakira.
