Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake strikes close to Kokopo, Papua New Guinea on Aug. 20

A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Kokopo on Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 18:25 UTC (04:25 local time). The epicenter was roughly 180 km southeast of Kokopo, at a depth of 35 km.
