The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Sunday afternoon.

At 06:02 UTC (17:02 local time), the region was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of 19 km, with its epicenter roughly 143 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
