Update: 2.6 magnitude earthquake detected near Deep Springs, CA on July 5

INYO COUNTY, CA — A 2.6 magnitude quake was registered close to Deep Springs Saturday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor rattled the area at 3:29 p.m. It occurred at a depth of 6 miles with the epicenter located approximately 5 miles southeast of Deep Springs.

Tremors past week

Last week, seven quakes of magnitude 2.5 or higher have been recorded in the region. The strongest, a 4.8 magnitude quake, struck near Big Pine six days earlier.
