System name: Fay

According to the National Hurricane Center’s 10 a.m. Tuesday advisory, Fay was previously a tropical storm but has since weakened and devolved to a tropical depression with sustained winds of 35 mph. Tropical Depression Fay is in the Atlantic Ocean, 1,525 miles west-southwest of the Azores. With maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, the system is moving southwest at 12 mph.

“Little change in strength is forecast, and Fay is forecast to become a post-tropical cyclone on Wednesday,” meteorologists observed.

Yesterday (Monday)

Fay previously a tropical depression but has since gained strength and developed into a tropical storm with sustained winds of 40 mph.
