System name: Fay

At 4 p.m. Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center released the final advisory for the post-tropical cyclone system. Post Tropical Cyclone Fay is in the Atlantic Ocean, 1,590 miles west-southwest of the Azores. With maximum sustained winds of 30 mph, the system is moving west-southwest at 12 mph.

“Little change in strength is forecast, and Fay is forecast to dissipate in a day or so,” meteorologists observed.

Yesterday (Monday)

Fay previously a tropical depression but has since gained strength and developed into a tropical storm with sustained winds of 40 mph.
