Southwest Colorado under a fire weather watch Tuesday – gusts up to 35 mph

At 1:18 p.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch valid for Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Southwest Colorado Upper West Forecast Area.

Winds are expected to be southwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and relative humidity 6 to 11 percent.

“Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
