The National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch at 1:18 p.m. on Sunday valid for Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Colorado River Headwaters and Gunnison Basin.

The NWS states that the warning was issued for gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels. Residents can expect winds to be southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity 7 to 12 percent.

“Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” comments the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
