Update: Seismic activity on Sept. 8 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake near Ruteng, Indonesia detected

A 5.2 magnitude quake occurred near Ruteng on Tuesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 15:36 UTC (23:36 local time). The epicenter was roughly 125 km northeast of Ruteng, at a depth of 10 km.

Two quakes nearby last week

In the past week, there have been two tremors above magnitude 2.5 centered in the same area. The largest, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake, rattled on Sep. 2, while the other, measuring 4.7, was reported on Sep. 2.
