Update: Earthquake of 5.1 magnitude registered near Kuril’sk, Russia on Oct. 3

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Kuril’sk Friday morning.

At 15:16 UTC (01:16 local time), the region was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 39 km, with its epicenter about 282 km east of Kuril’sk.
