Update: 5.3 magnitude earthquake shakes close to Pagar Alam, Indonesia on May 23

A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Pagar Alam on Saturday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 12:40 UTC (19:40 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was roughly 82 km southwest of Pagar Alam and occurred at a depth of 68 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later upgraded to 5.3.
