Update: May 18 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake recorded near Mid-Indian Ridge

A 5.1 magnitude quake hit close to Mid-Indian Ridge around midday Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the area at 07:34 UTC (12:34 local time), was centered of Mid-Indian Ridge. It occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later downgraded to 5.1.
